Derale Transmission Oil Pan # D14207 for a 2009 Chevrolet Express Van

Question:

Hello, Next year we will tow a large travel trailer and I am looking to provide additional transmission cooling. I plan to install a transmission temperature gauge with the sensor in the pan and a second cooler both have already been purchased. I have 2 questions/comments: 1 Will the subject part fit my 2009 Chevy Express 3500 Van with 155inch wheelbase and 6.0 liter engine. It is all stock. My research shows the only transmission installed in this van is the 4L80E four speed. 2 I read in your QA section that a deep filter adapter is not needed with this pan. Please confirm this is the case if this pan fits my van. If this pan does not fit my van, what pan would you recommend? I own a 2009 Chevy Express 3500 Van with 6.0 liter engine. Will my original transmission oil level dip stick work with this pan i.e. oil level marks remain the same? If not, what is required? Thank you

According to Derale, the # D14207 will be compatible with the 4L80E transmission on your 2009 Chevrolet Express Van if you have 2-1/2 inches of clearance under your existing pan without hitting the cross member to accommodate the greater depth of the Derale pan. The Deep Pan Filter Adapter, # D14010, is only required with the Derale transmission pan cooler for Dodge applications and would not be needed with the # D14207 cooler for your van.

With your pan cooler, I would recommend using the Derale Temperature Guage Kit, # D13009, if you have not already ordered the item. The pan cooler already has a port for the temperature sensor to install in the side of the pan.

Your original dipstick will work with the # D14207 Derale pan cooler. When you install this cooler, you will need to add 4-1/2 qts of fluid which would keep your fluid level at the same point for the dipstick to measure. The additional fluid will simply be sitting lower in the pan around the cooling tubes.
