New Trailer Wheel Center Pilot Hole is Larger than Old Wheel Center Pilot Hole

does the hub have to be tight on the center hole on the rim ? the old rims where 3 3/4 and the new rims are 4 1/4 6 lug. lug line up perfect

On some wheel and hubs the center pilot hole has to be the exact size of outer hub bore. This is because the wheels are hub centric meaning they center on the hub rather than the lug holes. Hub centric wheels and hubs will use wheel bolts and not lug nuts.

If the wheel centers on the hub using lug nuts (the studs are mounted in the hub) then having a larger pilot hole on the wheel is fine.
