I read on another website that this rack will not install on a Toyota tundra Pickup. I am looking to purchase for my father in law who has a new tundra and a couple of old school style beach cruiser bikes with fenders

The Topline 2 Bike Carrier Truck Bed-Mounted Rack # UG2500 may fit your 2012 Toyota Tundra. To find whether or not it is a fit for your vehicle, you will need to check your truck bed wall to see if there is a lip that hangs over the top for the clamp to hang on to.
If you have a bedliner that covers the underside of the top bed rail, you will need to cut a hole so the clamp can grab onto the lip at the top of the sidewall. Also, if you have a bed rail system, it will have to be removed prior to installing this product. I have included a graphic showing close ups of the clamp.
I have included links to videos displaying both a review of this product as well as its installation on a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado. While this is not the same vehicle as yours, the installation technique is similar.
