What is the Difference Between the Load Range D and E for the Tire Size ST145R12
Question:
What is the difference between the load rating D and E? I know mine are ST145R12 S-Trails but Im not sure which Load Range. Also is there a slightly wider tire I could use?

Expert Reply:
Load range D has a capacity of 1,220 lbs at 65 psi, whereas load range E has a capacity of 1,520 lbs at 80 psi. Basically the only difference between the two is the weight capacity. With trailer tires you always want to have them inflated to their maximum that way you get the best handling, braking and wear characteristics.
You should note that if you increase the load capacity of your tires it will not necessarily increase the overall capacity of your setup. You must always go with the lowest rated component in your towing setup as the overall capacity.
I attached a couple FAQ articles on trailer tires for you to check out also.
We do not have any wider tires that will fit your rims either.
