Recommended Hitch Ball and/or Ball Mount for Shock Absorption

Question:

I tow a tear travel trailer 1848 lbs dry wt with a 2019 Subaru Outback. Ive been using a standard ball hitch mount and coupler, 2 ball, 1 shank, 3 drop. The trailer has no shocks, so Im getting a lot of vibration, jerking and chucking translating to the car. Will a suspension ball mount or ball help with this? Which one? I need to have a 3 drop with nothing hanging below that, to preserve ground clearance. I appreciate your suggestions. Thanks

For your ball mount if you have a 1-1/4 inch shank, then the Curt RockerBall Shock Absorbing 2" Hitch Ball - 1" Diameter Shank - Chrome - 7.5K # C40047 or the Curt RockerBall Shock Absorbing 2" Hitch Ball - 3/4" Diameter Shank - Chrome - 3.5K # C94CR is your best option.

If you have a 2 inch receiver shank, the above hitch balls are an option, however most other shock absorbing options will have more of a drop than you wanted for ground clearance. For instance the Convert-A-Ball Dual-Cushioned, Adjustable Ball Mount - 7" Rise to 9-1/2" Drop - 5,000 lbs # CAB-UM is one option that could be used with # C40047 for great shock absorption as well as keeping your ground clearance.
