Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver for 2017 Forest River 2380 FTD to Flat Tow Chevy Spark

Question:

Want to add a trailer hitch. There are frame extensions from the Transit chassis to the rear of the RV. Would like to add trailer hitch to the frame extensions and fabricate metal piece bolted to the trailer hitch/frame extension back to the Transit frame and bolted to the frame. The idea is to ensure the pull weight isnt just on the frame extensions but also pulling from the Transit frame - strengthening the chassis frame/extension connection. My GVWR is 10360 and my GCWR is 13500 which gives me 3140 lbs towing weight including hitch and tow bar. Want to tow a Chevy Spark which is around 2400 lbs. Would this work? Forest River 2017 chassis 2380 FTD

Helpful Expert Reply:

For a motorhome, you won't use a custom fit hitch receiver. Instead you will use an RV hitch receiver. I recommend the Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs, 22" to 66" Wide # C13704. This hitch is rated to pull the Chevy Spark without any issue and no extension is necessary.
