Parts Needed to Use the Kodiak Disc Brakes on a Trailer or Motorhome
Question:
Hi, I just bought and received the item # K2HR858D, KODIAK DISK Brake. Do I have to buy the Hydraulic brake actuator additionally, such as Item # HS381-8067, to install it ? If yes, how many ? Your prompt reply for this would be highly appreciated. Thanks

For your Kodiak Disc Brakes, part # K2HR858D, you do in fact need a hydraulic actuator and lines.
The HydraStar Vented Marine Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator, part # HS381-8067, is a decent choice. However, I recommend part # HBA16-252-82 instead as this one comes with the lines needed to connect to the brakes. I've linked to a video installation of this actuator and lines for you to reference.
When it comes to wiring in the actuator, I highly recommend using the Wiring Kit for HydraStar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuators, part # HS381-9000, as this is going to make installation much easier. I've linked to a video review of this kit for your consideration.
Finally, there is one thing to keep in mind when using hydraulic actuators: not all brake controllers are compatible with them. Check the page on part # HS381-9000 to ensure that yours is. If it isn't then I recommend going with the Tekonsha P3, part # 90195, as this is one of our best and most popular brake controllers available.
