Why Arent Trailer Hitches Offered for 2018 Subaru Outback Rated for Weight Distribution

In regards to Item # C13410 - Curt trailer hitch receiver, the description states its not rated for use with weight distribution systems. Does this mean the trailer tongue cannot have a weight distribution system either? Id like a weight distribution system of some sorts while towing my camper that I plan to buy. I have a 2018 Subaru Outback Wagon.

The prohibition against weight distribution is mentioned in the owner's manual, which is why the available hitches including the # C13410 aren't rated for weight distribution. Typically, when a vehicle manufacturer does this, it's because the under body structure of the vehicle could be compromised by the leverage that the weight distribution system would apply to the hitch and it's mounting points to the vehicle.

This being said, if you're concerned about the amount of sag that the trailer's tongue weight would apply to the rear suspension of your Outback, a set of Coil SumoSprings, part # CSS-1125R would help with that.

These inserts would offer support to the rear suspension but because the inserts are pliable, you'll maintain your ride quality. As opposed to an air bag system, the Coil SumoSprings won't leak and require no maintenance.
