Easiest to Use 10,000 lb Capacity Weight Distribution Hitch
Question:
I have a trailer that is 7,000 lbs and have a loaded tongue weight of about 900 lbs. I know I need a weight distribution hitch that has a tongue weight capacity of up to about 1,000 lbs but which is the easiest to use? A lot of these seem like something of an ordeal to set up so can you recommend the easiest to use system? Thanks!

You are right that some weight distribution hitches can be a somewhat difficult process to set up but there is one option that is much easier to use than the rest and is perfect for your trailer that has a loaded tongue weight of 900 lbs, and for that I highly recommend the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution with Sway Control # BLU66FR.
The SwayPro - which has a 10,000 lb towing capacity and is designed for trailers with total tongue weights between 750 lbs and 1,000 lbs - has a lot of different features that make it much easier to use. The first is that to add the chains to the brackets (which just clamp on) you only need to put them in and rotate the brackets with a wrench and a lock pin will engage automatically. To undo it, just push the lock pin and that's it.
There is also no need to manually adjust the head assembly of the SwayPro # BLU66FR, which is great because that process can be a real pain in a lot of systems, making you add and remove washers until you get it just right. The head assembly also has built-in grease zerks to make it easy to maintain. There really isn't a simpler to use weight distribution system, and along with that the SwayPro is also really effective so you'll have a much more stable, controlled ride.
The only other thing you will need is a hitch ball, depending on the size of your trailer's coupler; you can use either 2" Hitch Ball # A-90 or 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # C40030.
