How Well Does the Lockrack Adjustable Kayak Carrier Hold Up during Interstate Travel

Question:

While this rack will fit a Vibe Shearwater 125 with a bow and stern line, my concern is traveling on the interstate from KY to FL. The yak specs are 38inch W, 16inch D, 12.5 ft L at 95 lbs. How well will the rack system lock the yak in place at 75 mph for 14 hours with cross winds? 2 cam straps across the hual and a bow/ stern lines are all I use and never loosen. I need a need system, as my Thule glides have worn out and are leaving rubber marks from rear loading.

I spoke with our contact at Lockrack, and I have good news for you.

The Adjustable Watersport Carrier, part # LR24VR, has been thoroughly tested to ensure that it can handle your trips. They took this carrier loaded with a kayak and traveled from L.A. to Salt Lake City, with average speeds of 75 mph, and there were no problems.

As long as the kayak is secured in place before leaving, the wind will not move it or jeopardize its security.
