Weigh Safe 2-Ball Mount With Built-In Scale Perfect for Car Haulers

I just came across your weigh safe hitch/scale product. Currently I have a hitch that came on my truck Ford F150 from the factory with a 2” ball. I will be towing an 18’ open trailer. I will be carrying a Corvette. Which one of these hitches would be best for my truck?

The Weigh Safe # WS6-25 that you referenced in your question is made for a 2-1/2” hitch receiver and your F150 will have a 2” receiver opening. Instead you will want the Weigh Safe # LTB8-2 mount.

The Weigh Safe mount is the perfect solution for a car carrier trailer. The adjustable height shank will allow you to set the correct hitch height so your trailer rides level with your tow vehicle. When you have your trailer leveled you can weigh your trailer when fully loaded at a commercial scale. When you have that weight you will know to adjust your load so that your tongue weight is between 10 to 15 percent of the total loaded weight. In your case you can move your car backwards or forwards on the trailer until your tongue weight as displayed on your hitch scale meets the requirement. When the car is perfectly placed, you might want to place a stop chalk (Erickson # EM09162-2) on your e-track system so you can park it perfectly each time in the future.

Since the Weigh Safe ball mount is portable you can easily move it to a different vehicle to measure tongue weights. For example if you were at a car show you could slip this onto a friends tow vehicle so they can measure the tongue weight they are exerting on their tow vehicles hitch for them.

To attach your ball mount you will also need a hitch pin with clip like the JR Products # 37201074 or for a locking hitch pin you can use the etrailer # e98882 locking pin.
