Recommended Solution for Ball Mount with Multiple Hitch Balls and 7" Drop That Won't Drag

Question:

On the three-ball mount, where is the 2 ball? I need the 7 setup to achieve level on all my trailers but fear potentially bumping/dragging the ball pointing down when in the lowest position. Thanks for the help.

The 2" hitch ball on the B&W Tow and Stow # BWTS10049B is on the left hand side and not on the top, so as you've noted it might potentially drag the 2-5/16" ball when towing in that orientation. With that said, typically you'll have at least 12" of coupler height to tow level and the hitch ball will only extend down about 3-1/2", so you would still have at least 8-1/2" of clearance from the ground which in most cases should leave you safe. This would be the best solution we have available aside from going with an adjustable ball mount that would cover the 2" and 2-5/16" hitch balls and then getting a separate ball mount and hitch ball for the 1-7/8" coupler.

If you wanted to go that route I'd use the Reese Adjustable Ball Mount - 5,000 lb # RP21141 and the # C40017 for the 1-7/8" hitch ball. Then, for the bigger trailers you can use the Weigh Safe 2-Ball Mount w/ Built-In Scale - 2" Hitch - 8" Drop, 9" Rise - 10K # WS8-2, which has a little longer drop, but it only adds 1 inch extra and you won't have to worry about dragging. This ball mount comes with a built in scale so you'll always be aware of what your tongue weight is.

I've linked some review videos of these parts for you to check out.
