I have an option for you, but using a hitch extender like the Roadmaster Anti-Rattle Hitch Extender # RM-071-1075 will lower the tongue weight rating of your trailer hitch receiver by 50%, and you would not want to use your sway control with it.
You mentioned that you are looking for a short hitch extender, so depending on how much you are looking for an extended ball mount like the Hidden Hitch Ball Mount # 80232 which measures 15-3/4" from the center of the hitch ball hole to the center of the hitch pin hole, or the Curt Class III Drawbar # C45270 which measures 13" from the center of the hitch ball hole to the center of the hitch pin hole would be your best option.
The # 80232 has a maximum tongue weight rating of 600lbs and maximum trailer weight rating of 6000lbs, where the # C45270 has a maximum tongue weight rating of 750lbs and a maximum trailer weight rating of 7500lbs. Both options would work with your sway control.
If your current hitch ball does not have a 1" shank you will need 2" hitch ball # 63845 or 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # C40007.
I included videos for each of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
2" Hitch Ball - 1" Diameter x 2-1/8" Long Shank - Chrome - 7,500 lbs
2-5/16" Hitch Ball - 1" Diameter x 2-1/4" Long Shank - Chrome - 10,000 lbs
Curt Class III Drawbar - 2" Rise - 4" Drop - 13" Long - 7,500 lbs
Roadmaster Anti-Rattle Hitch Extender for Tow Bars - 2" Hitches - 7-3/4" Extension
Hidden Hitch Ball Mount - 3/4" Rise, 2" Drop - 15-3/4" Long - 6,000 lbs
