Differences Between Class III And IV Hitches For A 2012 Ford F-150
Question:
What class of hitch is this based on this sticker4
asked by: Paul S
Expert Reply:
Based on the sticker and weight ratings showing it would be a class III hitch. The difference between a class III like the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver Item # C13903 and IV hitches like the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver Item # C14002 is typically the weight ratings. The hitches we offer for the 2012 Ford F-150 are class III and IV. The Class IV has a 1000lb tongue weight and a 10000lb towing capacity and when used with weight distribution goes up to 1200lb and 12000lb. Our Class III hitches are rated at 600lbs to 800lbs tongue weight and would go up when used with weight distribution.
