Best Combination of Malone Trailers for 2 Kayaks and 2 Bikes

Im looking for a little help and knowledge on the Malone Sports Trailers. We would like a small trailer for two 10 kayaks and it would work well to also have them hold our two bicycles. In looking at the offerings I see that the EcoLight only has a two kayak option, can one not fit a set of bike racks on this model? Next up is the XtraLight, this in fact does have the 2-kayak - 2-bike option, my question here is if this trailer is the option above the EcoLight for our needs, can one outfit it with the better J-rack kayak holders? And, is the bike rack offered the same as on the MicroSport models? We do have a Saris hitch rack for our bikes, that could be used with a stacked, double receiver... but to have them all on one trailer when needed would be best. So, in asking, can the EcoLight not handle a 2-kayak + 2-bike option? Is the ExtraLight the best for our needs? If so, why isnt it offered with the better racks?

It looks like we're looking at the following three models:

Malone EcoLight Sport Trailer - part # MAL53FR
Malone LowMax XtraLight Trailer for 2 Fat Bikes and 2 Kayaks - part # MAL75FR
Malone MicroSport Trailer for 2 Fat Bikes and 2 Kayaks - part # MPG461KB

You are correct that the EcoLight does not have an option for two kayaks and two bikes. There's not enough space to accommodate that, so this one is out for your application.

As for the MicroSport, this one does have everything that you need, but it might be a little overkill. The bike racks on it are not the same as the ones on the XtraLight as they are specifically designed for fat bikes.

This leaves the XtraLight, which is the best for your needs as is. However, it seems you are somewhat turned off by the kayak carriers attached. I will say that these are perfectly capable of handling your kayaks, but if you want something that looks better and is better-rated, we have them here.

They are the Malone J-Pro2 Kayak Carrier with Tie-Downs, part # MPG117MD, which just so happen to be the same carriers you see on the MicroSport. These are not offered as part of an XtraLight package.

Of course, buying the XtraLight with the kayak carriers and bike racks only to replace them with other kayak carriers might not be the most economical option.

Instead, I recommend getting the base XtraLight, part # MAL83FR. Then, you can outfit it with two of the J-Pro2, part # MPG117MD, and two of the bike racks that come with the other model. Those are the Malone Pilot TC ST Roof Bike Rack, part # MPG2103.

I've linked to video reviews of these three parts for you to look at.
