Trailer Hitch Receiver, Brake Controller, And 7 Way Plug For 2016 Dodge Durango With Tow Package
Question:
I have a 2016 Dodge Durango Citadel with a v6. I am wanting to put a hitch, brake control, and 4 and 7 pin plug on it. I know that there is a plug under the dash for a brake control and there is a plug under back bumper. I just dont know the right control, hitch, and plug to use. I do like the Redarc controller because of its size. If you could point me in the right direction Id appreciate it. Thanks for all the help. Thanks.

The Draw-Tite Class 3 Trailer Hitch Receiver - Max-Frame # 75713 is the correct hitch receiver for your 2016 Dodge Durango Citadel. This has the highest weigh capacity of the available receivers for your vehicle; it is rated at 900lbs max tongue weight and 6,000 lbs max towing weight, or 7,500lbs max towing weight when used with weight distribution hitch. Keep in mind that the hitch receivers for your vehicle only allow up to an 18" spare to be stored under the vehicle.
For the trailer wiring connection, use 7- and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Socket w/ Mounting Bracket, Chrysler/Dodge OEM Plug Adapter # HM40975-11933. This will plug into the factory square-shaped connection under the bumper of your Durango. Then you can mount the plug on the your hitch or bumper with the included bracket and you will have a 4 way flat and 7 way round.
For the brake controller you can go with the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 3 Axles - Proportional # RED44FR that you mentioned. This is one of my favorite brake controllers due to the fact that it remains very hidden and looks original to the vehicle. Since you have the plug under the dash you can use Plug-and-Play Wiring Harness for Redarc Tow-Pro Trailer Brake Controllers # RED77FR. This will simply connect the brake controller to your vehicle's plug under the dash. I have attached videos for the products mentioned.
