What are the Two Additional Carriage Bolts Used For with the Curt Gooseneck Plate

the product comes with 4 pins and two bolts with washers and shims. what are the bolts used for?

The carriage bolts, washers and spacer blocks that are included with the Curt 25K Gooseneck Plate, # 16055, only need to be used if you have a 4-bolt base rails installed on your truck. You can tell if you have a 4-bolt kit if you only have two carriage bolts holding each base rail to the frame brackets . I have attached a photo showing the difference between 4-bolt rails and 10-bolt rails.

The two additional bolts will need to be installed in the center holes on the base rails if you have the 4-bolt rails to provide additional support for the gooseneck plate. The spacer blocks will install under the base rail in the bed corrugation to prevent the bolt from crushing the raised sections of the truck bed (see photo).
