Question:
I recently traded in my 2005 jeeo liberty for a 2013 ford explorer. I have a roadmaster falcon 5250 tow bar assembly that I removed from the liberty and want to install on explorer. Is this possible? Do I use roadmaster base plate #4427-1a?

Yes you can use Roadmaster base plates # 4427-1A on your 2013 Ford Explorer and it will be compatible with the Falcon 5250 tow bar that you have.
In addition to the tow bar and base plates you will also need safety cables like # RM-643 unless you already have some. You will also need a lighting solution such as # RM-2120 if you will not be towing often or # 154-792-118158 for a more permanent solution.
Most states now require a supplemental braking system on the vehicle being flat towed. The easiest system to set up and use is the Even Brake # RM-9400 proportional system. This system applies the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the towing vehicle is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.
Be sure to consult the vehicle owners manual in the recreational towing section for more specific information on flat towing your Explorer. I have included some helpful links on flat towing for you to view.
