Availability of Extension To Relocate 7-way Trailer Connector

Question:

I bought the Factory Style 7 Way and 4 Way Flat vehicle end trailer connector for my 2018 Nissan Titan. Unfortunately, the wiring harness that was stock on the truck was not long enough to make it to my preferred mounting point for the trailer light connector. Do you sell a 12 or 18 extension that I could add between the stock wiring harness and the receptacle?

We don't offer a dedicated extension, but I have a couple of alternatives that can be used to do that for you.

The least expensive option would be to use a 4-foot pigtail like # HM40985, but you'd need to cut off the factory round US CAR connector that's currently plugged into the rear of your 7-way and wire in the pigtail. The wire color function is shown on the linked product page. I'd recommend using heat shrink butt connectors like # DW05745-5 to protect the connections from moisture.

An easier, more expensive option would be to use a harness which is designed to tap into the factory harness to provide a 7-way in the truck bed for towing a 5th wheel or gooseneck trailer, like part # 41157. You'll have extra length you'll need to coil up and zip tie out of the way and a 7-way socket you won't need but you'll have a plug and play install with no cutting or splicing needed. You'll also have an extra connector on one end that you'll need to seal up with electrical tape to prevent water from getting in.
