Determining Correct Oil Bath Seal For Dexter D100G 10000lb Axle
Question:
I have a D100g axle and I need the oil bath seal. can you tell me which seal I need? it is on a tandem axle trailer. I believe it to be 10000lb axles. I can send a picture of the tag that is on the axle if needed.

Thank you for the picture!
I reached out to my contact at Dexter and your axle is indeed a 10000lb axle, but with the axles age they were unable to confirm the oil seal or bearings used.
With that said your axle being a general duty 10000lb axle should use the Oil seal # 10-51, but could use # 10-56.
To determine the correct seal you will want to use digital calipers like # PTW80157 to precisely measure the spindle where the seal rides as shown in the included diagram, and the diameter of the hub where the seal rides.
The # 10-51 has an I.D. of 2.875" and an O.D. of 3.880" where the # 10-56 has an I.D. of 3.125" and an O.D. of 4.5".
I included videos for both of the seals mentioned for you to take a look at.
