How To Get Rid Of Bumpiness When Towing Horse Trailer With 2010 Nissan Frontier 2WD

Question:

I have a 2010 Nissan Frontier 2-wh Drive. I bumper tow a Horse Trailer 1980 W-W Trailer, 3500# GAWR, dual axle with 1 or 2ea 1,000# horses. I want to smooth out my very rough and bouncy ride. I suspect I need to replace the front shocks and beef up the rear shocks. I may need also the SSR-610-40 rear helper springs. Would the trailer or hitch also need shocks? What are your recommendations? Thanks

The SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs - Rear Axle # SSR-610-40 you were looking at for your 2010 Nissan Frontier 2WD would definitely help to give you a smoother ride, but I do recommend adding shocks to your trailer as they will do a great job at reducing the bumpiness when pulling the trailer.

The correct shock kit will be dependent on the diameter of the axles on your trailer. Since you mentioned that your axles have a 3500lb axle rating they more than likely have a diameter of 2-3/8" and would need the Roadmaster Comfort Ride Shock Absorbers for Tandem Axle Trailers - 3,500-lb Axle # RM-2450. The # RM-2450 will reduce trailer bouncing with the nitrogen filled shocks, and they will also help to fight sway by limiting the lateral movement of the axle.

I included a video for each of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
