Recommended Axle To Replace Damaged Axle On 60s Camper Trailer
Question:
I have a 60 era camper whos axle needs to be replaced. I dont know the weight of the camper. The hub face to hub face measurement is 73 1/8 and the spring center is 55 1/2. I would like the axle to have electric breaks. I also need to replace the tire rims as the current ones are out of date as well the tire size is ST205/75R14. Can you recoment something for me? The camper is aprox 14ft in length.

I have an option that may work for you, but we do not have a traditional axle that matches the dimensions you provide.
Instead I recommend going with the Timbren Axle-Less Suspension system. There are a few different options depending on the axle rating of your current axle.
For a 2200lb option we have the # ASR1THDS01 which uses Braking Assemblies # AKEBRK-35-SA, and Hub and Drum Assemblies # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K.
For a 3500lb option we have the # ASR3500S05 which uses the same Braking Assemblies # AKEBRK-35-SA, and Hub and Drums # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K.
The Timbren systems will bolt directly to the frame of your trailer and will replace your current leaf spring suspension with a progressive rate AEON main spring that offers a much smoother ride than traditional leaf suspension.
Both of these options would work perfectly with the Westlake ST205/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire w/ 14" Silver Mod Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range D # 274-000053 which has the ST205/75R14 tires you mentioned were wanting to replace.
I included videos for each of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
