Best Hitch and Cargo Carrier for 2015 Nissan Murano

Question:

looking to buy both a hitch and cargo carrier from you but I have several questions/requirements. Wasnt sure I could speak to you directly about recommendations so here goes: 1. Vehicle 2015 Nissan Murano 2. Carrier must: fold up, have mesh floor, 300 lb loads likely 3. Ideally: rear hatch access with carrier attached 4. Will not be used to tow 5. Two old timers will be using them Recommendations: Which hitch and carrier should I buy/consider?

For your hitch receiver, I recommend the Draw-TiteTrailer Hitch Receiver # # 75952. It's similar in design with the other hitches from Curt and etrailer, but this one has a 600 lb tongue weight capacity while the others have 350 lbs. If you are carrying 300 lbs of cargo plus a 48 lb cargo carrier, you'll come close to maxing out the other hitches.

Next, for the cargo carrier, I recommend the 24x60 etrailer Cargo Carrier # e98874. It has mesh, it folds, it tilts, and it can carry up to 500 lbs. With it's tilting feature as well as with how it sits, you can still open your rear hatch with it on. It also weighs 48 lbs, so it's hefty, but do-able.

If you want a cargo carrier that's even lighter, then you might prefer the 19x60 Curt Cargo Carrier # C18100. This one has the folding but not the tilting feature. Since it's aluminum, it only weighs 29 lbs.

If I had to choose, I would still go with the etrailer Cargo Carrier # e98874 for its stability as well as how it tilts. Videos are attached of both at the bottom of the page if you want to see how they look and work on a Nissan Murano.

Whichever one you prefer, you will also want to pick up some straps like # 288-05852 to keep your cargo tied down. Also, check your owners manual for tongue weight capacity to make sure you're within your vehicle's capacity.
