Yes you can bypass the integrated brake controller of your 2012 GMC 2500 like with the Prodigy P3 part # 90195 which is basically superior in every way and also not nearly as prone to issues. No other harnesses would be needed but there are a couple additional steps you'd need to take which you can see in the attached help article link.
