Recommended Surge Brake Actuator To Replace Discontinued Atwood 82541

Question:

I have a boat trailer with a 7000 lb GVWR with drum brakes. The current actuator has a p/n of 82541. What would you recommend 4 a replacement.

Based on the part number you provided I was able to confirm that your current surge brake actuator is the discontinued Atwood 82541.

For a replacement I recommend going with the Titan Zinc-Plated Brake Actuator - Drum - Multi-Fit Ball - Bolt On - 7,000 lbs # T43397007K which has a 7000lb capacity to match the GVWR of your trailer, and is designed to work with your drum brakes.

If needed you can add an electric lockout solenoid # T4748800 which will connect to the reverse lights of your tow vehicle and will allow you to back up the trailer without the brakes applying. If your trailer has free backing brakes currently you do not need to worry about adding the solenoid.
