What Crossbars do I need to Attach a Thule Hullavator on a 2016 on a 2016 Toyota 4Runner?
Question:
What size crossbars would I need to transport a 13.5’ Native Watercraft Stingray tandem kayak with a Thule Hullavator on a 2016 Toyota 4 Runner Limited? Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Expert Reply:
The crossbars you would need can include round, square, aero, elliptical, and most factory crossbars. The Hullavator cannot go on factory bars. With that being said, the Yakima CoreBar Crossbars # Y00421 will allow you to attach the Thule Hullavator Pro Kayak Carrier and Lift Assist with Tie-Downs # TH898. The Minimum crossbar spread on the rack is 24 inches, and the Stingray needs to have a maximum width of under 36 inches.
Depending on if you have a naked roof, a flush roof, or raised factory railings, you will need:
Naked roof:
- BaseLine Towers for Yakima Crossbars - Naked Roofs # Y28TR
- BaseClip Fit Kit for Yakima BaseLine Roof Rack Towers # Y06129 (x2)
- (optional) Same-Key Security Lock System # Y07204
Flush roof:
- SkyLine Towers for Yakima Crossbars # Y53TR
- Landing Pad 25 for Yakima SkyLine Towers # Y84FR
- (optional) Same-Key Security Lock System # Y07204
Factory raised rails:
- TimberLine Towers for Yakima Crossbars - Raised, Factory Side Rails # Y33TR
- (optional) Same-Key Security Lock System # Y07204
