Weight Distribution Hitch Shank to Long, Hits Speed Bumps and Drags on Inclines

Question:

I purchase this item Reese 49913 to use on my 2016 F150 2wd with standard suspension and factory 20” rims. The shank is too long vertically and hits speed bumps and even shallow driveways. I need a recommendation for a smaller shorter shank to replace the Reese supplied shank

The Reese Weight Distribution Shank # RP3214 will be about 3 inches shorter than the one that was included in your Weight Distribution Hitch # RE44FR.

I do worry that your round bars with that style hitch may also hit even with the new shank as the way they load into the hitch causes them to hang lower. If you see that as being an issue as well you may be best to go with an Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System # EQ37120ET as it uses a trunnion bar that slides into the hitch from the side rather than up from the bottom with the round bar.
