Recommended Replacement Axle For 1970 Phillips/Dexter 6000lb Axle

The hub plate on our old axle has four bolts. Will I need to replace wheels and everything or is there a replacement axle available? 6000 lbs. 80” spring seat. 95” length. 3” diameter. Cannot read serial number but trailer registration says 1970 and metal tag on axle says Phillips/Dexter. Thanks.

Thanks for all of the dimension on your axle!

I recommend going with the Dexter Trailer Axle w/ Electric Brakes - E-Z Lube - 6 on 5-1/2 Bolt Pattern - 95" - 6,000 lbs # 7461121-EB which has the 6000lb rating you need, and has a hub face to hub face measurement of 95", spring center to spring center measurement of 80", and a 3" diameter to match your current axle perfectly.

The # 7461121-EB already includes new braking assemblies and hub and drum assemblies to replace your current ones as the newer 6000lb axles use a 5 bolt pattern for brakes instead of 4 bolts like your current axle.

As long as your current wheels use the 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern you can reuse them, but if they use a different bolt pattern you will need to replace them. I included a link to a helpful article that goes over how to measure your bolt pattern for you to take a look at.

Should you need to replace your wheels, just let me know the size and I would be happy to make a recommendation for you.

I went ahead and added a video of the # 7461121-EB and a link to all of our wheels that use the 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern for you to take a look at.
