What Is Needed to Tow 5th Wheel Trailer With 2020 Ford F-150 With 5-1/2 Foot Bed
Question:
So my question was answered about what hitch kit to use with which air bags, but my other concern is my short bed truck. i have a 2020 f150 4x4 with 3.5 eco boost and 5.5 bed. Will a standard hitch work with a tongue extension or do i need to get a sliding receiver?

You can tow a 5th wheel with your 2020 Ford F-150 with a 5-1/2 foot bed, but you will need a standard/fixed 5th wheel hitch and a Sidewinder rotating pin box. The reason for that is the Sidewinder will move the pivot point back to the turret, which allows for the needed clearance so your 5th wheel trailer does not crash into your F-150's cab. The correct Sidewinder will depend on your 5th wheel trailer's pin box model number, as you'll need that in order to know the correct fit.
For a Lippert 0719, 1621 and 1621HD, Fabex 663 and 665, M&M 663 and 665 pin box you will need the Sidewinder and Turret # RP34FR
For a Lippert 1716, 1116, and 0115 you will need the Reese Sidewinder 5th Wheel King Pin with Rotating Turret # RP77FR.
That will allow you to use the Curt A16 5th wheel hitch, and you'll also need the wedge. That hitch, along with the correct no-drill base rail kit for your 2020 Ford F-150, 5th wheel wiring harness, and air bags, are as follows:
- Reese M5 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Single Jaw - 20,000 lbs # RP30928
- Demco Hijacker Premier Series Above-Bed Base Rails and Custom Installation Kit # DM8552028-71
- Curt 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Custom Wiring Harness with 7-Pole Connector for Aluminum Beds # C57008
- Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate Air Helper Springs # AL88385
