Determining The Correct Weight Distribution Hitch For 2008 Starcraft Antigua 19' TT W/ 5000lb GVWR

Please help me choose the proper WDH for my travel trailer. I have a 2008 Starcraft Antigua 19 foot. The tongue weight is listed as 361 lbs. The GVWR of the trailer is 5000 lbs. I have heard good things about Blue Ox.

I would be happy to help you find the correct weight distribution hitch for your 2008 Starcraft Antigua 19' Travel Trailer, but you will need to confirm the total tongue weight before purchasing a hitch.

Total tongue weight is the tongue weight of your fully loaded and ready to tow trailer plus the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle. The easiest way to get an accurate tongue weight measurement is with a tongue weight scale like the # e99044 but there are other methods which are outlined in the included help article.

Tongue weight is typically 10-15% of the weight of the trailer, so if you are loading your trailer to or close to the 5000lb GVWR you should expect 500-750lbs tongue weight.

The Blue Ox TrackPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control - 7-Hole Shank - 8K GTW, 800 lbs TW # BLU47FR you were looking at works with total tongue weights between 600-800lbs, so there is a good chance this system would work for you.

If you are loading quite a bit of weight behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle and are on the upper end of the estimated tongue weight I mentioned you may need to step up to a higher rated system like the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control - Clamp On - 10,000 lbs GTW, 1,000 lbs TW # BLU66FR which works with total tongue weights ranging from 750-1000lbs. This hitch does not included a hitch ball so you will need 2" hitch ball # A-90 or 2-5/16" hitch ball # 19286 to match the coupler on your trailer.

I included videos of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
