Question:
It seems that I typically cannot back up my boat trailer or any friendsfoot boat trailers if the trailer electrical 5-pin is not connected to the vehicle, due to the breaks locking up when the trailer is moving in reverse. Once I connect the electrical, then there is no problem. With that being the case, will I not be able to use the RVR9 to back up boats? As I assume the brakes will lock up due to there not being any electrical connection. Is there some easy way to temporarily keep the brakes from locking up without connecting the trailers electrical to a vehicle?

You are correct.
Since your boat trailer has an electric lockout solenoid you will not be able to use the Trailer Valet RVR9 Remote-Controlled Trailer Dolly - Wireless Remote - 9,000 lbs # TVRVR9 without the brakes being applied.
Instead what you can do is replace your current brakes with free backing brakes which will make it where you do not need the reverse lockout solenoid.
To do this you will need to know what size brakes are on your boat trailer. If you have 8-1/2" brakes we have the # T4442100-000, for 10" brakes we have the # AKFBBRK-35, and for 12" brakes we have the # AKFBBRK-7-D.
