Is There a Swing-Away Hitch Adapter That Can Support 400 Lbs
Question:
Hello - we have found swing away 2 inch driver side hitch adaptors for bike racks. However, we have a Cabelas cargo carrier and often take up to 400 lbs of gear in it. It impedes our ability to open he back doors of our 2020 Mercedes 4x4 Sprinter whose factory hitch can handle 500 lbs. What do you recommend for such an adaptor? Thanks so much.

I do have an option for you but none of the hitch swing-away adapters will be rated high enough to carry 400 lbs. The Kuat Pivot 2 Swing Away Hitch Extender for Bike Racks part # PVD20B would be our best option at 250 lbs. There's also the option of the GearSpace 34 Enclosed Cargo Carrier for 2" Hitch part # HGK819 which can carry up to 300 lbs.
