Does AKHD-655-6-EZ-K Pre-Lubed 3500 lb Hub Drum Need Additional Grease Before Installation

Question:

Do you need to add grease to pre-lubed drum and hub AKHD-655-6-EZ-K when installing? If so, what is recommended application is for a boat trailer.

The # AKHD-655-6-EZ-K hub would arrive with the grease seal, the races and the inner and outer bearings installed. The bearings are already packed with grease, so the hub is ready to install. I'd recommend using some additional all-purpose marine wheel bearing grease like # L11465, and smearing a good coating on the spindles as some extra added insurance. All this being said, since this is for a boat trailer I'd instead recommend using a galvanized drum which would offer some additional corrosion resistance. We offer the same hub in a galvanized finish as part # AKHD-655-6-G-EZ-K for E-Z Lube spindles. This hub/drum is NOT pre-greased, so I'd recommend using the # L11465 grease mentioned above to pack the bearings.
