Towing with the 80232 extra long shank ball mount

Question:

why is the towing limit at 6000 lbs when most are 7500+? My trailer weighs 3500 unloaded, single axle highwall popup. Will I notice any difference when towing? Im pulling with a 2019 1500 Sierra

There are many factors that go into determining a weight rating for a ball mount. The Hidden Hitch Ball Mount # 80232 for instance with having the extra long 15-3/4" ball mount to center pin hole will create more leverage on the receiver tube. The same way you use longer ratchets to make turning a bolt easier. That is one factor that a manufacturer has to consider when developing a ball mount.

When towing your pop up you will not likely notice a difference in the way the trailer tows. This is due to the light weight of the trailer. If you had more tongue weight you would feel more rear end sag due to the point where the force is being applied to your 2019 GMC Sierra 1500.
