can I mount a BandW patriot slider in a 2008 Dodge long bed 3500, using a BandW custom base rail kit?

I'm assuming you already have the # BWRVK3270? If not, it's not necessary to use a sliding hitch in a long bed truck. I'd recommend using the stationary version, part # BWRVK3255 for an 18K capacity or # BWRVK3200 for the 16K hitch.
If you already have the hitch, you can certainly still install it in your 2008 Dodge Ram 3500 using the
# BWRVK2600 custom install kit, but you'll want to be sure to keep the slider in the forward-most position at all times. The install bracket/rail kit will work with any of the B&W Patriot hitches discussed above.
If you'd like to install a 7-way trailer connector in the bed of the truck so you don't have to run the trailer connector cable up over the tailgate, you can do so using part # 20111.
