You will need an installation kit to mount for Pro Series 5th wheel hitch. There are a few options to choose from for your 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 with 8 foot bed. The hitch will fit in Reese, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Curt, Husky, and Valley above the bed rails so compatibility will not be an issue.

There are custom installation kits and universal kits. I almost always recommend a custom kit. They might cost a little more but they install in about have the time of a universal kit and require much less drilling. For your truck you can use custom installation kit # RP50140-58, # C16420-104 that you referenced, or # HT31413-686 or # HT31565-686 from Husky.

For the best combination of price and install time the Curt kit would be a good option.

The universal kits for your truck are actually semi-custom kits. They require slightly less drilling that a regular universal kit but do include some custom brackets which makes installation time a little shorter than just a universal kit. You could use # RP30035-023 (will not work on trucks with overload springs) or # RP30035-186 if the truck does have overload springs.

There is also Curt kit # C16301-200 which will fit with or without overload springs. I have included links to instructions for many of these kits for you.
