Question:
I have a 2000 ford ranger and am planning on wiring a 7 pole connector up in it tomorrow. My question is when wiring a 40 amp circuit breaker to the battery for the hot lead for the breakawy kit will it run down my truck battery if I leave the trailer plugged in overnight? What can I do to only make the hot lead live when the truck is on?

What you could do is install a Tow Ready Battery Isolation Solenoid part # TR118665. You would install this inline with the 12 volt power circuit of your vehicle. You will need to find a circuit that only sees power when the key is on and then run that to the middle post of the # TR118665.
What this will do is make it so that it will only allow current to go past the solenoid when the key is on.
