The cable for the Conventional Ramp Door Spring # M394FR needs to always come off the bottom of the drum. If it comes over the top, the system is installed backwards.

It should be noted that it is recommended that only individuals who have experience winding torsion springs install this product. If you have not worked with a torsion spring system before, we recommend contacting a local garage door company to install this system.

I would think the 185 lb spring would work best like the part #M394FR that you referenced. 185 lbs would feel really hard to pick up off the ground so I would assume this would be right at the correct capacity to make sure your ramp is easy to pick…
