Paddleboard Carrier Compatible With Factory Roof Rack on 2020 Toyota Corolla Hatchback

Question:

I have cross racks from Toyota PW301-02007. The description says : Clamps to the roof using fixed points in the door openings to secure cargo with confidence, On the specs for this rack it says : note not comparable with roof racks that clamps to vehicle door jambs. I don’t know much about car stuff. And it’s confusing. Can I use this on the cross racks that I have? Y04081 Also does this rack hold paddle boards that are 36 inches wide?

Thank you for that info, and based on my research you have the factory roof rack on your 2020 Toyota Corolla hatchback; while we do have an option for a paddleboard carrier that is compatible with your rack, the Yakima ShowDown # Y04081 is not because your rack does clamp to door jambs and its crossbars do not extend out past the feet, which is another requirement.

Instead, I did verify with Yakima that there is a paddleboard carrier you can use which will fit your Corolla's crossbars, which is the following part:

- Yakima SUPDawg Stand-Up Paddleboard Carrier with Tie-Downs # Y04075

This will clamp on directly to your crossbars, and importantly it is compatible with paddleboards that are a maximum of 36 inches wide, so it will work with your boards. While it is not a load-assist like the ShowDown, you can add a type of load assist that will help you get your boards on the carrier, with a loading mat:

- Thule Water Slide Non-Skid Loading Mat # TH854

The Water Slide uses velcro straps to wrap around your crossbars for an easy way to slide your paddleboards onto the carrier, and you can simple unhook the straps from your bars when you're done loading up. I have added some links below to video reviews for you to check out as well if you'd like to take a look.
