Are Safety Chain Loops On Draw-Tite 76076 Vertically or Horizontally Mounted?

Question:

Did the update the design of the 2019 audi q7 draw tite hitch? The old design like in the instructions looked like the chain attachment holes were vertically mounted. The new, pictured design shows horizontal chain attachment holes. Which design is it? Also do you have, or can you get a video of a hitch installed and the hands free tailgate working properly? Last question, have customers had any issues with needing to recalibrate the cars driver assist sensors radar located on the rear bumper? Please only answer with factual info and not best guesses. Its a expensive car and dont want any issues with it. Thank you

I would be happy to help!

The Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver # 76076 you were looking at for your 2019 Audi Q7 was redesigned last year to move the safety chain loops as the vertical loops were sticking down pretty far and causing ground clearance issues.

While the instructions still show the old design, the new design is what is currently be produced and the instructions are still correct for the installation process.

We do not have a video of the hands free lift gate sensor working properly with this hitch installed, and unfortunately do not have a Q7 here that we can use to make a video at this time.

Lastly I confirmed with Draw-Tite that they have not received any complaints regarding having to recalibrate the Q7's rear driver assist sensors. This is due to the sensors being installed about half way up the bumper and not interfering with the hitch. If you are towing a trailer, or with larger bike racks/cargo carriers the sensors will go off as it detects the trailer or accessory, but you can turn the system off while towing or transporting these items.

If you are planning on towing with your Q7 you will also need a vehicle wiring harness # 119250KIT and a hitch ball, ball mount, and hitch pin and clip which can all be found in the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # 989900.

I included installation videos for each of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
