I have a great solution for you. Here at etrailer, we usually don't recommend carrying more than two bikes on a roof rack system at a time due to weight capacity restrictions. With that being said, if you plan on carrying up to two bikes on your factory crossbars on your 2021 Ford Expedition, I recommend the Yakima ForkLift Roof Mounted Bike Carrier - Fork Mount # Y02098. The ForkLift is compatible with mountain bikes and secures the bike to the rack using the fork. The space on your factory crossbars will allow you to mount two ForkLift carriers if you plan to transport two mountain bikes.

If you plan on transporting more than two mountain bikes, a hitch bike rack is the safest way to go. I did some research on your 2021 Ford Expedition Max and discovered that your vehicle comes with a factory 2-inch hitch.
