You could use a hitch adapter like # HTAD which would allow you to install the bike rack designed for a 2 inch hitch in your existing 1-1/4 inch hitch, but there are a couple reasons why that isn't the greatest idea.

• Thule does NOT recommend using hitch adapters for their bike racks. Installing an additional component
between the hitch and the bike rack like an adapter will cause the rack to bounce and rattle more than it
would if it were installed directly into the hitch. This can damage the rack.

• Using the adapter will reduce the tongue weight capacity of your hitch by half, from a likely 200 lbs down
to 100 lbs which means that the rack and the bikes combined weight can be no more than 100 lbs.
Exceeding that capacity could cause the hitch and/or its attachment points to the vehicle to fail resulting in
the loss of the bikes and rack, which would be bad.

The best practice would be to use a bike rack and hitch that are designed to work together. In your scenario, it would be more cost effective to replace the existing hitch with one that has a 2 inch receiver like the etrailer brand # e98848. You can always sell the hitch on your local buy/sell/trade website to defray some of the cost of the replacement hitch.

If you click the provided link, you can see a video showing my buddy Conner installing this hitch on a 2021 Honda CR-V like yours.
