Hidden Cross Tube Or Exposed Cross Tube Receiver For a 2021 Toyota Venza XLE?

Question:

Hi. Interested in a 2inch / Class III receiver for my 2021 Venza XLE. I understand the difference in strengthfoot of the receiver 200 vs 525 lb tongue weight...a big difference!, but the Draw-tite is listed as visiblefoot cross tube and the Curt is hiddenfoot cross tube - how much of an actual difference is there in visibility and how much lower is it? Thanks!

Both the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C89UR and Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # DT46MR will end up at nearly the same height when installed. I have included pictures from the instructions for each receiver and you can see there is not a noticeable difference.

The Curt # C89UR cross tube is fully hidden behind the bumper trim and the receiver tube hangs below the cross bar to achieve this look.

On the Draw-Tite # DT46MR the receiver is welded directly to the cross tube and will be slightly exposed on the raised portion of the bumper trim.

I recommend the Draw-Tite # DT46MR as the better of the two for your 2021 Toyota Venza XLE. It has the extra weld plate on the back of the receiver tube that connects it to the crossbar. I feel that this will increase the overall strength and durability of the receiver over time.

The Tekonsha ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness # 119250KIT will give you a 4-way flat connector for adding additional lighting. This Auxiliary Lighting # C53201 will come in handy if your bike rack or cargo carrier blocks the view of your taillights.
