Recommended Parts For Towing a Trailer With Electric Brakes, With a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Diesel
Question:
I have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with the Ecodiesel engine, and would like to install a trailer hitch that is integrated into the bumper. I would like a brake controller and 4/7 pin wiring harness at the hitch. What parts would I need?

I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75713 for your 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Currently there is not an aftermarket receiver that is integrated into the bumper of your Cherokee.
For the wiring there are 2 routes that can be used and are determined by if your Cherokee came with the factory trailer wiring. You can determine this by contacting your local Jeep dealer with your VIN to see in the option was included on your Cherokee.
If you have the factory trailer wiring you will need the 7- and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Socket w/ Mounting Bracket # HM40975 to attach to the tab on the Draw-Tite receiver. The Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195 and Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter # TK93VR will plug into the factory connector under the dash to complete the wiring and brake controller installation.
If you do not have the factory trailer wiring the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118727 is needed to get the taillights circuit off the Cherokee. The Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7 will give you the wiring and connectors needed to complete the installation of the 7-way/4-way connector and a Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195.
