Adding Electric Brakes to 2021 Scamp Trailer with 2,200 lb Axles

Question:

I want to add electric brakes to a 2021 Scamp trailer. It has a 2200 lb Lippert axle and 13inch wheels the 4-hole flange is already installed and I have installed a brake controller in my truck 7-pin plug. Besides 7-1 1/4 brakes and matching hubs and wiring, do I need to change out the spindles? Also, what are the differences between the etrailer brakes and the Dexter besides price? Thanks for your advice.

Since your spindles already have brake flanges on them all you need to add brakes to your trailer are the brake assemblies, the hub/drums, wiring, and possibly a new trailer connector if you don't have a 7-way currently.

Since you have 2,200 lb axles the correct assemblies you'd need are the part # K23-103-00 for the left hand side and part # K23-104-00 for the right hand side. For this axle capacity we don't have an etrailer brand equivalent.

You'd need 10 gauge wire ran to the assemblies which we offer by the foot with part # 10-1-1. And then for a 7-way upgrade kit you could use the part # 277-000141 and you'd be set.
