Recommended Trailer Brake Controller and Wiring Harness For 2011 Land Rover Range Rover Sport

We need to tow a camp trailer with our 2011 Ranger Rover sport, What do you recommend for the trailer wiring with brake controller? Thanks in advance.

We have just what you need!

If your 2011 Range Rover Sport has the factory tow package with the factory 7-way connector you will just need a trailer brake controller and a plug-in wiring adapter. I recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED24FR and the adapter # RED87FR due to it being much more compact than a standard controller so it will visually change the interior of your vehicle. The plug-in adapter will plug in to the factory trailer brake controller port underneath the dash of your Range Rover Sport and then will plug directly into the Liberty.

If your Range Rover Sport does not have the factory tow package you will need to first install a 4-way connector using # 119147KIT, and then add a 7-way connector using # ETBC7. This will plug into your newly installed 4-way connector and will just require grounding the white wire to the frame, extending the black wire to the positive terminal of your battery with the included 40 amp circuit breaker, and extending the blue wire to where you will be mounting the controller.

Without the factory tow package your vehicle will not have the factory trailer brake controller port so you will need to hardwire the controller. You will need to make the following connections:

Red wire from controller harness to cold side wire of stop light switch. This wire only has power when the brake pedal is pressed and you can find it by using the circuit tester included with the # 119179KIT.

Blue wire from controller harness to the blue wire from the 7-way connector that you extended.

Black wire from controller harness to positive terminal of vehicle battery with included 20 amp circuit breaker.

White wire from controller harness to ground.

I included videos of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
