Recommended 7-way Connector To Use Curt Echo C51180 On 2020 Ford Escape Titanium

Can you tell me the parts required and possibly where to connect the black wire/ 12vinch for a 2020 Ford Escape Titanium for towing a trailer with electric brakes with a 7-pin connector. I have another vehicle that I typically use to tow this trailer using the Curt Echo Smart brake controller. Im hoping to use that same controller with the 2020 Escape. The Escape has a 4-pin trailer connector currently installed. I believe the documentation for the Echo controller indicates that it only needs the 12v black wire to operate the trailer brakes. It also indicates that the 12v wire should be a 30amp circuit. Ive read posts indicating that an additional circuit breaker may be required for that connection. I see that you carry various 4 to 7 pin adapters. I know that some of them only adapt the connector to supply trailer tail light operation. Others supply the additional wires to support trailer brakes, but you also carry several varieties of those. Is there any substantial difference among those i.e., quality/durability of the product? Thanks.

We have exactly what you are looking for!

Since your 2020 Ford Escape Titanium already has a 4-way connector installed you will need the # ETBC7L which was designed specifically for the Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller # C51180 you have.

The # ETBC7L will plug into your existing 4-way connector and just require two more connections. You will need to run the black wire to the positive terminal of your battery with the included 40 amp circuit breaker, and ground the white wire to the frame.

You are correct that your Echo does not require the blue brake output wire like a standard trailer brake controller, and only requires the 12v power and lighting functions to be active.

If the trailer hitch receiver on your Escape does not have a built in bracket for a 7-way connector to be attached to you may need a no drill mounting bracket # 18140 or Curt # C58000 depending on exactly how your trailer hitch receiver is designed.

I included videos of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
