Reducing Exhaust Rasp on Vehicle with 2-1/4 inch Exhaust
Question:
Hello. I have a 91 S10 with a 2.5 4cylinder I built. I’m running 2 1/4” exhaust pipe with a thrush welded muffler, like a flow master. I like the throaty sound but I dislike the high pitched ? Reverberation sound at certain speeds and loads will a resonator tip eliminate that sound without taking any power away thanks

Sounds like you are dealing with exhaust rasp based on what you described. An exhaust tip will not take care of this problem. The only thing you can do since you have a 4 cylinder would be to put an additional muffler on it like the part # MF10415 which should reduce it quite a bit. Normally you can add an x-pipe to a dual exhaust setup or improve the y-pipe but on a 4 cylinder motor you don't have that option.
