Question:
My pickup camper has an entry height of 38 inches and door width between inside flanges of 22.25 inches the question is about the door closing with the steps down. I dont see how the steps are installed to allow door closing. That is, the metal component of the MR38RR would sit on top of the existent threshold. The door fits snugly on the threshold now, it cannot tolerate much extra material between the threshold and the door. Also, will the legs extend enough to have the steps work for a 38 inch high entry?

The MORryde StepAbove RV Steps for 21-3/4" to 22-1/4" wide doorways, # MR38RR, that you refer to, is for a max entry height between 34" and 36"; this is not best option for your 38" height threshold. These are to be mounted to the threshold, if you think there is not enough space for fitment that is another reason to look at other options. Occasional adjustments to threshold will need to be made for proper fitment. The MORryde StepAbove fold-down steps are typically installed on travel trailers and 5th wheels.
I recommend the TorkLift GlowStep Stow N' Go Scissor Steps w/ Landing Gear, # TLA7834. This is for an entry height of 31" to 41". This is an aircraft grade aluminum construction four step system with 20 inch wide steps.
An additional option is the TorkLift GlowGuide Handrail for Campers with GlowStep Scissor Steps, # TLA7621. This handrail provides additional safety for you when you climb into or out of your truck camper with 3 telescopic arms that easily position in place for use and collapse for travel.
