Finding a Supplemental Braking System Option for a Jeep Wrangler

supplemental braking systems for flat towing a jeep wrangler

Without knowing the exact year, make, model of your vehicle I can not make a 100% recommendation. That being said as long as your Jeep Wrangler is 1987 or newer the following options would work. You would just want to plug your Jeep into our fit guide to verify that they work for your vehicle. Or if you want to provide me with your vehicle year I would be happy to help you get the right system. You have two main options to choose from. Either a portable system that will allow you to move the braking system from vehicle to vehicle or a fixed system which will integrate more into your wiring and stay in place even when not in tow. Both options listed are a proportional system which means the system applies brake pressure in proportion to your braking in the RV. Which is superior to a pre set unit that hits the brakes with the same pressure no matter how hard or soft you press the brakes in your RV.

If you have the need to be able to switch between towed vehicles, are towing a newer or nicer vehicle that you don't want to permanently modify or want to be able to take your brake system with you if/when you get a new vehicle then I recommend this portable system.

Blue Ox Patriot 3 Radio Frequency, Portable Braking System # BRK2019

If you would rather avoid the hassle of having to set up your system before each trip and want a permanent system in place then I recommend this fixed system.

Demco Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System w/ Wireless Coachlink Monitor # DM86VR

With either option you will want to get the Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-88400. The relay works with your tow bar wiring system to ensure that your towed vehicle's turn signal lights flash in tandem with your RV's lights.
